Glitz, Glam, all over Fab...Welcome to New York!

Thursday, October 11, 2007, 12:49 PM EST [General]

A little over a year ago to the day, fresh from the cacti strewn deserts of Arizona, I was ushered into the JFK airport with a “Welcome to New York” sign and honey roasted peanuts in hand. Completely uninhibited and anticipating great things, I had just moved to the city alone, to begin a new adventure and take in entirely new experiences.

Now, with a year under my belt, I have learned the subtleties of this city, the continuous ebb and flow, its give and take. New York is unashamed, untamed, extravagant, strife, beautiful, gritty, and a Mecca to the artistic masses; it is no surprise that the city boasts an extreme population of the rich, famous, and fabulous…be it food, people, or nightlife!

Within my first few months here I finally grasped the reality and true essence of the New York lifestyle; the amazing restaurants, people, lounges and club scenes and found it not be not unheard of to be living with a famous model or serving drinks to Tara Ried and Mark Ruffalo. Only last week, I found myself invited to the SoHo House to have drinks with Lance Armstrong, Ben Harper, Sean Penn and Herald Ford, random to say the least.

Although name-dropping can be momentarily thrilling, it is the shear ability to be so near to fame, fortune and success living amongst the giants of these fields that gives New York its appeal. And, not only does NY house, it nurtures, feeds, and entertains all to the nines.

Nobu, Blue Ribbon, Jeans Georges, Butter, and Taj, are examples of feeding troughs you can nuzzle your nose into and look like a star while doing so. Expect to drop mad cash for one roll of sushi or an extravagant hunk of fish, however the elemental designs are divine and you can be sure to spot a famous face dining along side you now and again.

Nightlife is the haven for New York masses, hot clubs of the moment: Marquee, Cain, Myst, Bungalow 8, Room Service, Tenjune…all might snub you at the door if you aren’t wearing Gucci, however the parties are amazing and loaded with beautiful people, you can not go wrong and you can definitely expect to “party like a rock star.” It is possible that one of these parties may drop out of the popular radar like they never existed in five seconds flat; Pacha was so last year…such is the New York way, survival of the trendiest!

Never fear, clubs like that still hold a special place in our hearts for amazing underground parties and host fabulous DJ’s from around the world; a place where trendy fails, love for music prevails. As far as hot scenes, there is always something new building up on the horizon, a new party, restaurant, or grand place to be and we all anxiously await for such novelties…

We love you New York…Stay Fabulous!!!
