With every detail carefully considered, Taj's spacious main floor is lit by six-foot silk lamps, antique metal fixtures and paper lanterns that reflect warmly on the pressed-tin ceiling and columns and dramatically illuminate the mahogany bar, imported carved-teak doorways, sandstone sculptures and fabric-covered walls. Reclining lounge beds and cushy ottomans are sprinkled throughout the main floor while crescent-shaped banquettes and carved teak-screened benches tucked into the perimeter provide a more intimate setting.
